Transfo Zwevegem, a beautiful renovation and refurbishment project of a listed old power station, for which we are proud to have contributed to the realisation of the building's insulating envelope.

Hemp blocks offer numerous advantages - thermal and acoustic insulation, hygrometric regulation, fire resistance, and a negative carbon footprint - all in one material, which appealed to the client.

The hemp block is ideal for heritage preservation and for circular construction projects such as the sustainable renovation of TRANSFO ZWEVEGEM. Here, 15 cm thick hemp blocks were used over more than 1,000 m².

A +/-3 cm layer of hempcrete was applied between the old walls and the new hemp block masonry using HL Mix, ready-to-use hempcrete aggregate.

This project was carried out in collaboration with the municipality and the CPAS of Zwevegem as well as the intermunicipal province of Leiedal in West Flanders.
