Led by the consortium TM NU, comprising BuroLandschap (landscape architect) and NU architectuuratelier (architect), the project stands out for its holistic approach to the landscape, including the creation of a central flowering meadow, the improvement of the Kelsbeek stream, and the addition of new aquatic areas to enhance biodiversity.

The design of the visitor centre, a 556 m² building realised without concrete, is based on bio-sourced materials such as wood, CLT, and hemp blocks, ensuring a low environmental impact and perfect harmony with the site.

This modular building uses screw pile foundations, is heated and cooled by aquathermy, and embodies architectural exemplarity in terms of circularity and the use of renewable energy.

The social and ecological importance of this project is evident: it raises public awareness of the challenges of sustainable construction, preserves the built heritage while offering a unique and environmentally friendly experience. This project demonstrates how architectural innovations and sustainable materials can transform and enrich our relationship with nature.
