In 2021, 56 homes were renovated and insulated internally using hemp blocks as part of an environmentally conscious approach. The choice of this bio-sourced material made it possible to preserve the historical characteristics of the building while enhancing its energy performance and ensuring optimal thermal and moisture regulation. The use of hemp blocks also contributed to enhancing occupant comfort through excellent acoustic insulation and increased durability.
This project, led by P&P Architectes and Atelier d’Architecture A4 in collaboration with contractor Jacques Delens, demonstrates how natural materials can address the challenges of demanding renovations, combining heritage preservation with improved living conditions.
