A sustainable project on a neighbourhood scale
Schwebach demonstrates a consistent approach to energy performance. Hemp blocks, solar energy production, water management and cooperative energy management all operate as one integrated system, designed from the outset. It is this overall coherence, rather than any single technology, that explains the performance of the Am Pesch development.
60 cm thick hemp masonry
At the Am Pesch development, 12 positive-energy homes were built using IsoHemp hemp blocks. The massive 60 cm thick masonry is finished with mineral renders, both inside and out. This bio-based solution is used here without compromise, where outstanding thermal performance is essential. The ground floors also incorporate 20 cm IsoHemp blocks, providing natural thermal and acoustic regulation on every level of the home.
A complete energy ecosystem
Each house is equipped with photovoltaic panels, a ground-source heat pump and a centralised, 100% recyclable Greenrock battery. A stormwater retention basin completes the system, ensuring sustainable rainwater management. The Solar Community Schwebach cooperative manages the entire system, aiming for direct solar coverage of up to 80%.
