In practical terms ?
IsoHemp hemp blocks, already present on the market, now benefit from a national regulatory framework. Their performance has been assessed, their installation conditions are clearly defined, and their use falls within a secure regulatory framework.
In a country renowned for the stringency of its technical standards, this validation represents a significant step forward for the sustainable integration of hemp into construction projects.
The recognition of a proven system.
The obtaining of this ABZ forms part of the continuity of our industrial and technical development.
For more than ten years, we have been structuring, industrialising and documenting hemp in order to make it a reliable, high-performance construction solution fully compatible with European regulatory frameworks.
IsoHemp already holds approvals, technical assessments and certifications in several countries. These recognitions attest to the industrial maturity and reliability of our blocks.
Germany now confirms these achievements within one of the most demanding regulatory environments in the construction sector.
A clear framework for construction and renovation.
Insulating building envelope in hemp blocks
The ABZ, issued by the Deutsches Institut für Bautechnik (DIBt), governs the use of our hemp blocks as insulating infill masonry.
The application is confirmed:
- in combination with a reinforced concrete structure;
- in association with a timber frame / timber construction;
- as internal or external insulation according to the validated system.
The 36 cm block has been specifically tested and assessed within this framework.
It enables the construction of monolithic external walls and residential buildings meeting the KfW-Effizienzhaus 55 standard, subject to the specific requirements of each project and the associated regulatory documentation.
Higher levels of energy performance can be achieved through greater thicknesses, depending on the building’s thermal assessment.
The blocks are self-supporting and suitable for non-load-bearing or lightly load-bearing applications.
Based on the approved monolithic system, reduced thicknesses (12 cm, 15 cm or 20 cm) can be installed internally, particularly for:
- renovations with heterogeneous substrates;
- existing or listed buildings;
- projects where the façade cannot be modified.
Architects, engineering consultancies and contractors now have a standardised and legally secure framework to design, specify and build.
The necessary technical documentation is available, particularly regarding:
- fire protection;
- technical testing and certifications;
- system compliance for safe and regulatory-compliant application.
IsoHemp thus continues its commitment: to demonstrate that a bio-based material can meet the most demanding technical standards of the European market, within a fully controlled regulatory framework.
