In the city of Loos, an old printing house is undergoing a transformation to become a music school where acoustics are of utmost importance. To achieve this, an interior renovation is underway using 25 cm hemp blocks, selected for their ability to minimise sound disturbances between classrooms.
The project, led by BEAL & BLANCKAERT in partnership with acoustic experts, aims to achieve the desired acoustic performance. Justine, the architect in charge of this project, is already embracing a second hemp block project, thus affirming her role as an IsoHemp ambassador. A demonstration day, organised by the town hall and the association CD2E, an eco-construction accelerator, showcased the different techniques of using hemp concrete.
Indeed, the upper floor has been realised with sprayed hemp concrete, while the ground floor features dry, ready-to-use hemp blocks. This project highlights the advantages of IsoHemp blocks: thermal and acoustic insulation, moisture regulation, fire resistance, and 100% natural.
