A house that belongs to its island
In S'Estanyol, on the island of Ibiza, a villa completed in 2025 reconnects with traditional Ibizan architecture, characterised by curved walls and organic volumes.
30 cm walls for the natural coolness of traditional homes
The villa's external walls are built with 30 cm IsoHemp hemp blocks, selected for their excellent thermal regulation during Mediterranean summers. This reflects the essence of Ibiza's traditional buildings, which have, for generations, been designed to capture coolness, retain it and release it gradually, rather than relying on air conditioning. The thermal mass of these traditional homes finds a natural continuation in the hemp block, extending the same principle with a bio-based material.
The internal partitions combine two thicknesses, 9 cm and 15 cm, depending on the acoustic and spatial requirements of each room. IsoHemp lintels complete the structure above every opening, ensuring material continuity from floor to ceiling.
A house that breathes with its surroundings
The result is a villa that naturally regulates heat, absorbs sound thanks to hemp's acoustic insulation properties, and blends into its surroundings as though it has always belonged there. The building interacts harmoniously with its landscape, designed with the same continuity between material, land and rock.
